DepositRescue (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates getdepositrescue.com to provide self-help legal calculations and certified demand letter automation for residential tenants.
We believe that personal and financial information entered while defending your tenant rights deserves maximum confidentiality. We do not sell your personal data to landlords, credit agencies, or advertising brokers.
1. Information We Collect
A. Information You Provide Voluntarily: When using the Deposit Recovery Calculator or generating demand letters, you may provide your state of tenancy, move-out dates, deposit sums, deductions in dispute, names, and mailing addresses for USPS delivery.
B. Payment Data: If you order USPS Certified Mail fulfillment ($29.99), transactions are processed directly by our PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment partners (e.g., Stripe). DepositRescue never stores raw credit card numbers or security CVVs on our servers.
C. Technical Usage Data: Standard server access logs including IP address, browser type, and timestamps to ensure infrastructure stability, prevent fraud, and detect abusive traffic.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Evaluating state landlord-tenant deadlines and computing statutory multiplier penalties.
- Compiling personalized legal demand notices and printable PDF exhibits.
- Dispatching physical letters via USPS Certified Mail with Electronic Return Receipt through licensed postal fulfillment infrastructure (Lob / PostGrid).
- Communicating delivery confirmation and USPS barcode tracking updates.
- Complying with applicable tax, legal, and regulatory requirements.
3. Information Sharing & Third-Party Service Providers
We share your information strictly with vetted service providers necessary to operate our service:
Mailing names and addresses are transmitted securely to postal print centers solely to print and deliver your certified demand envelope.
Payment tokens are processed via encrypted HTTPS directly with PCI-certified providers (Stripe).
4. Data Security & Retention
All data transfers are protected by TLS 1.3 encryption. Calculation inputs processed in your browser remain client-side until you explicitly order certified mail dispatch. Physical letter records and tracking metadata are retained for up to 180 days to allow verification during small claims court proceedings, after which records can be purged upon request.
5. Your Privacy Rights (CCPA & GDPR)
Under state statutes such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and international frameworks, you have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, request corrections, or demand immediate deletion. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@getdepositrescue.com or via our contact page.
